So here is what happened today: A staffing agency that I submitted my resume to last month called me today and said that there is an indefinite-temporary clerical position in Falls Church but that they want someone who can start tomorrow. I still have two more shifts at my retail job and that includes tomorrow, Christmas Eve, which promises to be one of the busiest days of the year. I told the agency that I really wanted to do the job but could not bail on my retail position on Christmas Eve. They said that if they found someone who could start tomorrow they would have to offer them the position, but if they couldn't, they would ask if a Monday start is acceptable. Of course someone is going to say yes to the offer, though, with jobs as hard to come by as they are.

I thought I was doing the right thing by honoring my commitment to the department store, even though my time there is almost done, especially since it is going to be insanely busy and I know that they need me there. But now I kind of feel like a schmuck for turning down a job. I mean, I am about now in desperate need of a new job and I turned one down because of a job that is almost over? What do other people think? Please, be honest even if it stings.

Yes. Sticking to your commitments shows integrity and will pay off in the long run.

No. In such uncertain times self-preservation comes first and you need to take any chance you get.

It is a grey area with no clear "right" answer.

I am so happy that I was able to finish my [info]nordic5_xmas gift before Christmas, even though the deadline has been extended. This oneshot is for [info]haro, who wanted a story where Finland is a badass. I had a lot of fun writing it. I really hope you like it, Haro, and that it lives up to your anticipation. Much love and a very Happy Festivus!

So, the weather is quite frightening, there are mountains of snow, I think I somehow strained my thigh ploughing the snow on the yard (for two fricking hours), but we're leaving for a six-hour drive to my aunt's now. Christmaaaaas ♥ Have a happy one, y'all!

Suvi ja Sanna, kiitos kauniista korteista ♥

I posted a sequel to A Footballer's Guide to Passing (Notes) at [info]unitedslash. I actually did it. Must be Christmas adrenalin. Now we'll see if the community is alive at all anymore.

Well, turns out this seasonal gig ends sooner than I thought. That is... it is over at the end of this week. I wasn't a huge fan of it or anything and I knew it was going to end, but I thought I had a little more time and could save up a little more money. I am so totally fucked right now. So damn fucked.

This might just go down in local history as the Blizzard of '09. It started around nine or ten last night and hasn't let up since. I called in to work with this morning and said that I wouldn't be venturing out in the storm. Then I proceeded to venture out in the storm. Not to work, mind you. This morning, at around nine, I took Lady Marmalade and made the journey west to Loudon County to see my sister. See, she was going to have a Christmas party for all the siblings tonight and I wasn't going to miss it for anything. But, sadly, my brothers didn't feel up to the snow trek.

The point is, I made it out here in the blizzard. The drive was a bit... harrowing and I kept hearing a little voice in my head (conscious?) saying, "You are a fucking idiot." But I did it. Now I am snowed in at my sister and brother-in-law's house. My only regret? I forgot my laptop and sketchbook. I left them at home so I am writing this entry from their laptop. I am also using their laptop to work on my Nordic 5 Secret Santa fill. I am cutting it kind of close and can't afford to waste this snowed-in time.

I have no intention of going to work tomorrow and would not be surprised if the mall is closed. I just hope I can get home tomorrow and go to my horrible horrible job on Monday. I really need to save up enough money to search for a better job. My future is terrifying.

But that is not a concern I need to have right now. I am in snowday mode, hunkering down in Loudon with slippers and legwarmers and Christmas cookies and plenty of liquor for a jolly good time.

I hope all my friends are safe and warm tonight.

"And if you want me, I'm your country"

Was browsing the "songs that remind you of Hetalia" thread and this is just like...way too much country-related stuff, need AMV now. XD But I dunno what pairing. :/ Ideas? Or feel free to steal it and make one yourself, cause it's not like I have time to do this.

On the opposite end of the spectrum- Veggie Tales. The Cheeseburger Song (...this should be obvious), The Dance of the Cucumber (Spain and Romano), and The Water Buffalo Song. (America and England)
These need to happen like burning.
Except that I want to do like...a slideshow animation thing for them, so who knows when/if that will happen. :P

Eeeee it's gonna snow tonight, and we're supposed to get a foot or two, I'm so excited. :D Hoping it'll cancel school Monday and Tuesday and give us an extra long Christmas break~

I took some pics around our yard today around noon. -23°C and so so pretty. Also at noon the sun was at its highest, not much above the horizon, really.

Pics be here )

When It's Male on Male" ?

It's a meme. All you have to do is yell "ICONS!" at me, and I'll give you six of your icons to go talk about in your journal.

Right now I'm in class. So this will be short.
Internet has made no progress as I now have no telephone at home.
I wish you all Merry Christmas and hope to be back soon to catch up with all of you and tell you things that have happened in my daily life and do all the stuff I loved the internet for. Adieu. <3

... that repeats over and over in my head and I need to listen to like woah. Again I wish I could play piano properly. But not bothered enough to actually do something about it, of course >.<

Last week was my final week of classes before they start again 11 January. All went well or very well - when it comes to English. I think I did abysmally in French and then I skipped the pedagogy exam (but had I gone I'd have failed), re-take in February. Need to read a book and write one essay during the hols, not so much. Also signed my lease contract and am moving in in the first day of the new year!

Now I'm at my sister's, looking after my niece and being amazed at how quickly it got so cold. It's quarter past ten now, and the temperature's dropped to -25°C for the night. I swear when I was home on Sunday it was only -5°C. My car looks so completely frozen on the yard. I failed to think of adequate footwear when I left, otherwise I'm good for cold weather. We went skiing today with Aamu. Or rather, she did and I walked behind her to pick her up every time she lost her balance. I'd really love to teach her how to skate. Maybe in a year or two.

Tomorrow the kiddo's going to her grandma's, so I get to hang out with the dog in this gorgeous house and I get to explore my bro-in-law's massive collections of Marvel comics, fantasy novels and sci-fi DVDs to my heart's content ^__^

ETA. Finished 1984 last night and still so incredibly perturbed by it.

HETALIA CAME EARLY
AND THERE WAS ~*POLAND*~ <3
I have waited so long for this moment. *tear*

From his one line in the first episode I was afraid his voice was too MANRY, but he now sounds wonderfully gay and I wholeheartedly approve. <3 Does anyone know enough Japanese to tell if he had his "valley girl" accent...?
That pony was FREAKY though. It sounded like a Pokemon reject and its eyes stare into your soul. 0_0

Anyone else finding that the anime has gratuitous France? I swear, he's in it just as much as Italy. XD
Oh yeah, and Chibitalia at the end. It was too cute and I died.

Oh yeah, and I wanted to share this video because it is amazing.
